This week we focus on phonological awareness. This is the most often tested and most difficult concept for preschool students, so it is very important to continuously work on it!
Play the song for your child, then ask them to remember as many items as they can that start with the letter R! Replay the song and see if they can name more the second time!
Estimated Time: 15-20 Minutes
Watch the video with your child and then ask them questions to test their knowledge. Bonus points if you help your child recall all the reptiles in the video!
Estimated Time: 10-20 Minutes
Get in the spirit and host a mock election at home! Ask your child: who is your favorite superhero, princess or villain? When they reply, ask them why they chose that character and not another one. Make a pros and cons list of their choice. The goal is to help your child understand what qualities are important to them.
Estimated Time: 20-30 Minutes
Listen to the video, then have your child practice writing the number 20 in their notebook.
Bonus: Write the world twenty for your child and have them write it below yours!
Estimated Time: 10-15 Minutes
Reptile crafts are a fun way to reinforce which animals are considered reptiles. You may choose to create one, two, or three reptiles with your child! Check out some ideas below.
Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
This is a medium difficulty worksheet with a few parts. Have patience with your child and know that it may take longer to complete.

Have your child listen to the song, then go around your home looking for items that are in the shape of a trapezoid.
Estimated Time: 20 Minutes
New Concept Alert: Addition! Use the snake board below to introduce addition to your child. Print 4-5 snake boards if your child prefers to color or print 1 snake board and use circular markers or coins. Then, write an addition problem for your child to solve: 1 + 2 =. Have your child color or "mark" 1 section and then 2 sections. Finally, have your child count how many sections they colored or "marked" to give you the answer!
Estimated Time: 30-45 Minutes
This is a fun worksheet that should be relatively easy for your child. Have them trace, color and count the trapezoids!
Estimated Time: 15-25 Minutes
Play the story and song for your child. Make sure to point out the words shown on the screen.
Then, play the story and song once more and pause at the end when the words come on the screen. Help your child sound out the words. It is okay if they are unable to fully sound out the words - we are introducing them to reading!
