This week we focus on a child's relationship to other living objects (other than people)! This may be easy for families with pets, but a great way to introduce the concept is to create a mini-garden with your child! We recommend the kit below!
Play the song for your child, then ask them to remember as many items as they can that start with the letter B! Replay the song and see if they can name more the second time!
Estimated Time: 15-20 Minutes
Johnny Appleseed Day is at the end of September! Watch the story with your child and ask them questions at the end. Replay the story if needed.
Estimated Time: 5-15 Minutes
Since this week we are focusing on relationships with other living things, we find it important that your child learn about plants and how they are created. Watch this video with your child and ask them questions afterward!
Estimated Time: 10-20 Minutes
Listen to the video, then have your child practice writing the number 15 in their notebook.
Bonus: Write the world fifteen for your child and have them write it below yours!
Estimated Time: 10-15 Minutes
Watch this short video with your child 2-3 times. The first time, narrate the apple lifecycle yourself and by the third time, have your child try narrating the video themselves!
Estimated Time: 5-10 Minutes
Grab a couple of apples for this exciting activity! Your child will love stamping the apples with different colors and on different surfaces. Bonus points if your child can name the parts of the apple from their stamp!
Estimated Time: 20-30 Minutes
Have your child listen to the song, then go around your home looking for items that are in the shape of an oval.
Estimated Time: 20 Minutes
After stamping some apples yesterday, your child should have a good idea of what are the parts of an apple. This worksheet will help reinforce that information for them. Bonus points if they trace the words of the apple parts!
Estimated Time: 30-45 Minutes
This is a fun worksheet that should be relatively easy for your child. Have them find, trace, color and count the ovals!
Estimated Time: 15-25 Minutes
Play the story and song for your child. Make sure to point out the words shown on the screen.
Then, play the story and song once more and pause at the end when the words come on the screen. Help your child sound out the words. It is okay if they are unable to fully sound out the words - we are introducing them to reading!
Estimated Time: 15 Minutes
New Concept Alert: Measurement! For this activity, you can use real apples or make your own out of construction paper or another material! How many apples tall is your child? What about yourself? What about your dog?
Estimated Time: 20-30 Minutes
This is a medium difficulty worksheet with a few parts. Have patience with your child and know that it may take longer to complete.
Estimated Time: 15-30 Minutes
