This week we focus on the importance of creating a sense of belonging for a preschool child. Hanging family photos with your child in them is a quick and easy way to remind them that they belong. Something like this is decorative and all you have to do is add photos:
Play the song for your child, then ask them to remember as many items as they can that start with the letter A! Replay the song and see if they can name more the second time!
Estimated Time: 15-20 Minutes
This week is all about your child and this worksheet is a perfect starting point! Help them practice both their first and last name, counting, and sorting with this fun activity.
Estimated Time: 20-30 Minutes
Your child should know their ABCs at this point, but do they understand the difference between Capital and Lowercase letters? Use this worksheet as an opportunity to help them differentiate between Capital and Lowercase and to help them with their fine-motor skill development!
Estimated Time: 20-30 Minutes
Listen to the song, then have your child practice writing the number 11 in their notebook.
Bonus: Write the world eleven for your child and have them write it below yours!
Estimated Time: 10-15 Minutes
Using the letters of your child's name, help them create a "Name Train".
Estimated Time: 30-40 Minutes

Complete this worksheet with your child.
New Concept Alert! A section of this worksheet has a "Before" and "After" component. First, have your child write out a number line (1,2,3,4...) all the way to 15. Help them if they need it! Next, explain to them that the number 1 comes BEFORE the number 2. Then, ask them which number comes before 11. Next, explain to them that the number 2 comes AFTER the number 1. Then, ask them which number comes after 11. Feel free to point to the numbers to help them out!
Estimated Time: 20-25 Minutes
Have your child listen to the song, then go around your home looking for items that are in the shape of a square.
Estimated Time: 20 Minutes
It's time to ask your child about their home and family by creating a family tree! Help them add all of the members of their family and ask them questions about each one.
Estimated Time: 30 Minutes
This is a simple worksheet to check your child's understanding of the shape of the week. It should be review!
Estimated Time: 10-15 Minutes
Play the story and song for your child. Make sure to point out the words shown on the screen.
Then, play the story and song once more and pause at the end when the words come on the screen. Help your child sound out the words. It is okay if they are unable to fully sound out the words - we are introducing them to reading!
Estimated Time: 15 Minutes
What does your child like? Ask them challenging questions about themselves and help them discover their likes and dislikes!
Estimated Time: 20-30 Minutes
This is a higher difficulty worksheet with several parts. Have patience with your child and know that it may take longer to complete.
Really help your child understand all the shapes and sizes that the letter A can come in - this will be KEY to their future understanding of orthography.
Estimated Time: 20-30 Minutes
Play the song for your child, then ask them to remember as many items as they can that start with the letter A! Replay the song and see if they can name more the second time!
Estimated Time: 15-20 Minutes
Grab a paper bag and fill it with 4 things your child can use to tell others about his/herself. All the objects must fit in the bag and your child should decorate the bag!
You can fill it with a family picture, your child's favorite crayon or toy, or even their favorite snack!
Estimated Time: 30 Minutes

Earlier this week we introduced the concept of before and after to your child. If you have not already purchased number flashcards, you can create your own (see the link below!).
First, you will need to mix the numbers up and have your child organize them as a number line. Then, explain to them that 1 comes before 2, 2 comes before 3, etc. Then, do the same with "after" - 2 comes after 1, 3 comes after 2, etc.
Check their understanding by asking them questions like "what comes after 8?"
Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
